Mine are doing well and fiesty eaters, it might just be you gotta be lucky and get a hardy one, but if all your perameters are fine you shouldn't have a problem. Also make sure you add enough iodine for him to molt! VERY IMPORTANT!

I bought one afew months back, my water quality is great btw, and it lasted about 1 week and then died for no apparent reason, I have other types that are just fine, so who knows. They are to expensive to try again, so I will do without one lol.

I'm trying anymore either. I've tried three so far. I can keep cleaners and pepps just fine so I'll stick with them.

I have a fire (blood) shrimp! He's awesome! He loves fish food! He's molted twice now, almost gave me a heart attack the first time, I thought he was dead! I've had him 6-8 weeks now? I think, I cant remember anymore. I love him though, very neat addition to the tank! So much personality!

I've had mine for 2yrs. went thru a house move a yr ago and everything else a tank goes thru in 2yrs. Shouldn't be any more difficult to keep then a regular cleaner shrimp.

It should say on the iodine bottle.

I never add any additional iodine because all the salts available for whatever reason already start with two or three times the amount of iodine in natural sea water. Actually I originally did dose once in a while but have long stopped. That and iodine test kits cost and arm and leg

I also have not tested my iodine levels, I buy my seawater but i do add iodine, like 1/4 tsp weekly. I have regular molts, Im not sure if it is because of the iodine or not, but instead and going by if its not broken dont fix it policy!

I also had one for months then just disappeared. I have numerous other shrimp that are doing fine. As much as they cost that was enough for me.

One of the first occupants in my tank(Jan) molts every couple months. He eats out of our hand. He was pricey, but extremely worth it. He is the only shrimp in there though, I don't know how compatable they are with other shrimp.

My Cleaner and Fire hang in the same area but respect each others space but NEVER fight and that has always been my experience with these two.

The only time I had trouble with mixing my fire and cleaner was at feeding time, then the fire shrimp would get aggressive w/the cleaner shrimp.
