i am in the market for new halides again for both the frag tank and the display...i have been to several sites researching and have asked a few folks that have had lights but i have run across this South Pacific Sunlight brand
SPS Metal Halide HQI Lamp - 150W - 14,000K
Bulbs designed with corals in mind
Engineered to enhance polyp extension, color and growth in corals
Ideal for SPS Corals, Anemones, Clams, Hard Coals, Mushrooms, Leathers and Xenia
Doubled-Ended design
Replicates beautiful shimmering effect on water
Mid sea blue light representing 30-60 ocean depth feet
anyone ever heard of this brand of lights?? if so how good are they....i am planning on going with them on both tanks or phoenix 14k for the display and reeflux (12k) for the frag
any opinions??

I have used SPS 250w DE 20k The color is consistent, but they looked more like 14k. Since, I've switched to Geisemann MegaChromes

i had geisemann as my first bulb didnt really like them as they were more whiteish to be 14.5k to me...when you say the color was consistent is that the color of your coral or the color of the bulb was consistent...i am really looking for something that is going to help color up my coral a little better...i have XM 250 15k now and everything is kinda drab or dull looking... put the stuff in my frag tank with the current 150w 14k and color is 10 fold

The color in the tank was consistent. I'm going to experiment using my existing 39w t5s (1-420 and 1-460) and add 2 daylight/miday bulbs. I think t5s give the best range of color but lacks in intensity.

i have 2 96w vhos on the tank 1x10k and actinic super blue but they are only on for about 4 hours/day so i need a MH that is going to add good coloration...what other type of bulbs have you used??...i dont want to spend 100+ bucks and be unhappy for the next year

My next bulb change I'm going to try XM. I've tried Pheonix, Reeflux, Coralvue, SPS, and Geisemann.

FYI if you check Sanjays forum, you will find that the XM 20k has a better par value than the XM 15k.As soon as i get my 125 up and running ill be tying them out.

yeah i have seen his sight but it was after i had already bought the 15k...but only thing i had worries about is the 20k being to blue but i have heard although the 20k has a better par growth was at a stand still and very close to none

well i went ahead and figured i would try the SPS lights and so far even though they are new they are more white than i thought would be but it is a nice crisp white and i like it a lot so now only time will tell how growth and color will come about especailly since they are suppose to be engineered for color and growth
