Hi Everyone...
Question ...
Years ago I had THREE tanks, my pride was my 40 bowfront salt tank with 4 seahorses at one point. They were gorgeous.. 2 I loved most..Orange & Yellow..."fred & ginger" - such personality....I just loved them sooooo much! What a joy! When I lost my last SH I got frustrated with everything..for both the efforts I spent on my tank and the money I spent, (and a bit of heartbreak maybe too) so I took every tank I had down...fresh 55 gal (cichlids) and the saltwater, and another 20 gal tank. Anywhoooo...it's been about 3 yrs now...and guess what I got for Xmas from my boyfriend after a trip to the aquarium (and me telling him all about how I had seahorses & love them) I got a 24g Nano Cube. Now...I was thinking ...NO, too small....but I've kept 2 in a 20 High before??? And now that its up & running and my CUC is in....I'm contemplating what to do..I keep poking in on this board and singing..."memories" ....Is it totally unheard of? 1 or 2 ? Or just One maybe.....I'm really struggling now that I have this tank to NOT desire just ONE SH? Also, NOTE..I've never has LR before...but I got some this time around...
Any thoughts??
PS...I love your board

Hi, and Welcome. I have been reading about Nanos and Horses and from what I gather, two main problems will be heat and flow
Also how tall is your tank??
You will need a chiller to keep the temps around 74 to 76 degrees. To many illness accure at higher temps.
Flow - you may need to replace to stock pump with something smaller or divert the flow with either a y piece of loc tight or add a small spray bar.
I would also consider which species you will be getting. I would stick to smaller horses like
H Fuscus - 3 to 5 inches
H. Barbouri - 5 to 6 inches
H Breviceps - 3 to 4 inches --Colder water -- 65 to 69 degrees
then depending on how tall your tank is
H. Kuda 4 to 7 inches
H erectus 5 to 7 inches
H Comes 6 to 7 inches

nano tanks stink, i've been down that route.
a 46bowfront will work fine.
just have live rock and live sand and maybe even a canister or HOB filter for extra filtration. Don't forget a protein skimmer.
nitrates get to high to fast in nano tanks.
