I know they do better in pairs and I am getting 2 CB kudas or erectus soon but I was just curious if anyone ever kept 1 happily?
Also does anyone here have any pics of their H. Fuscus?
Thanks

its hard to tell if a seahorse in lonely, they do not usually speak. keeping more then 1 is just the best way to do it. 2 or more females per 1 male is also good, like a little pony harem.

You might want to keep some tankmates that aren't seahorses; pajama cardinals are nice tankmates. I would tend to think that any kind of solo animal would not have a great quality of life.
For myself, I prefer to keep female seahorses. The males have more possible health issues and if you have a pair that breed, it is a bigger commitment to try to keep the fry alive.

As my post says I am not just getting one horse I am getting 2.
I was just curious if anyone ever kept just 1 horse in a tank with some gobies or something.

Rykna, teresa, and others will probably jump in this pool in a bit and help explain how this might not work. Even using non-seahorse tank mates might not work. Think about it.
Trap a human in a room for a week. Give him a dog. Is he/she gonna be lonely? Yeah, cause humans can't chat with dogs.
It's sort of the same scenario.

Well...you can't really
ever just buy one.
Once you start keeping seahorses, tanks just don't look the same without them. I'm currently setting up a 15g pony(dwarf seahorse) tank.

I kept my first horse, Valiant, in a 90 with a fire goby. Seahorses are very social fish. Weather you keep 1-2- or 3, not only will they socialize with each other, they will add you to their fish family. There's so much more to a seahorse...I posted this many months ago:
....Seahorses are the most unique fish I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my home with. I do not say keeping, because even though all fish have personalities, there is more to a seahorse. The intelligence that flickers in their eyes as they watch you, and the recognition and trust they form with you...takes them far beyond any fish I have ever kept. Sasha and Saphire have shown me trust by not fleeing when I go into the tank to get their food dish. They simply move around the dish as I take it out to clean, and wait for me to replace it and fill it with fresh mysis.
