I'm reading over on another forum about all of these SPS tanks that use the "Balling Method." Is anyone familiar with it that can go into more detail? Is it just dosing the three part solution, or is it a total method for reef keeping?
From what I have researched so far, most of these reef keepers use three separate solutions... calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium to maintain optimum and stable parameters. They're also using dosing pumps and controllers to do most of the work automatically. But, is the Balling Method not only a method for dosing elements, but also an overall method of reef keeping?
I only ask because I've noticed a lot of these systems have a lot in common. For instance, they all use oversized protein skimmers, they have max water flow rates, they have refugiums, and most of the display tanks are barebottom. Is this just similarities between these systems and not part of the balling method or what?
