just curious..... I bought some domino damsels that my girlfriend wanted (she is tired of not having any fish to watch in the tank. puffer, lionfish, and eel dont really do anything. Just the huma swims around.) Well, within 20 seconds of adding 3 domino damsels, my lionfish munched one of the damsels. Yesterday, turned the lights on and the lion munched another domino. Down to one domino. I figure he'll be gone in the next couple days. So..... does anyone out there buy live feeder fish for their aggressive fish?

It's amazing that they can actually catch the dominos. I've fed live brine shrimp but that's about it.

I throw some cheap damsels in my tank for a snack every month or so. And I think teh reason the lion can catch them is because he moves very slow so the damsels down think they are being chased untill too late. just for further knowledge. whare as my sharks have one hell of a time trying to catch them. but i guess its worth it.

i think it's really cool to see. my lion is a pretty finicky eater as it is. throwing a few damsels in there once a month isnt too bad....

I definitely think it is fine, if this is how you would like to feed, I thought about feeding my lions this way at one point ......... BUT ...... LOL ........
I am not sure if you considered quarantining the damsels before feeding them to your lion. The only problem I can see is introducing possible Diseases or Parasites into your main system when just buying and dropping.
Is this something you considered or anyone else have opinions about quarantining before Feeding?

I just buy and drop using the same logic of buying fast food for youself might build up your immune system.
Just kidding, sort of, I do buy and drop and even catch and drop but only from trusted sources.
PS..
I will check with the local water reports prior to catching my own feeders. I won't feed my fish anything I wouldn't eat myself ( saltwater aggressive tank only! ). My main tank eats chopped fish filets, shrimp, crab, and scallops ( when on sale).
