Anyone get anything Internationally lately?

I have a medium sized package (8kg or so) coming from Singapore. The problem is it's been held by customs for the last 3 days. It's not live fish, so don't worry (or anything illegal). But with the printer cartridge bombs a few days ago, I wonder if they're really going through packages now?
The thing is, it's got a bunch of smaller pieces and the thought of some customs officer tearing through it and not properly taping everything up and losing parts and stuff is a real fear.
Anyone getting something from overseas and have issues with customs? I bought probably 8-10 things from overseas in the last 2 years, and they've always breezed right through customs the same day. As anyone ever tried calling to get more info? I don't believe USPS would know much?

Dude, they (black helicopter types) claim to have thwarted a major terrorist attack. And found printer parts (like toner cartrages) rigged into bombs. One of which they claim was 17 minutes from detonation when it was found. All of it was shipped on cargo planes. The idea was to ahve a buncha 757's and stuff blowing up in mid air. So I'd imagine they're going ape nuts over cargo right now...

Yeah, I agree. I think the bomb scare was a major event that the media seemed to look over. I bet the way packages are handled through customs will be changing. To answer your question, I have gotten a few things internationally recently (dvds for instance) but my international orders have always been slow to get here.

Many shipments for my work are being delayed for up to 3 weeks due to customs. It's not like we are talking computer stuff.

Well, I certainly understand some delay. I simply can't imagine though, that they shut down all inbound packages for 3 weeks...
My real concern is them inspecting the package. I've worked freight for a retailer, and I know how I, and the guys with me, handled large quantities of freight, and my fear is they do the same. The package consists of 3 vintage nitro r/c cars and parts, 1 of which is, or was, in good condition, and there are many small parts. Just because of the attempted attack, doesn't mean I should get half of my stuff after they rip everything open and just pile/stuff everything back into the box. I know money doesn't matter in this stuff, but it was $102.56 to ship this. I think at the minimum, I should be somewhat better informed?
This is why I guess, it went to SanFran. Everything I've bought from China/Singy/Australia, has gone to ICS New York. Why, this time it went to Cisio, I dunno. It's also never said "Held at Customs." It literally says "Held at Customs" on the tracking #. It's never said that before, only "Inbound to ICS NY" and "Departed whateverCity, NY." Which coupled with the delay, leads me to believe the package has been pulled from the main flow of freight, and is being manually inspected or whatever they do. Which is what I want to ask, has anyone ever gotten anything that was inspected customs, whether you know it was, or it looked like whatever you bought was repacked, what was the condition you eventually received it in?
