i'd just like to give my opinions on some stores i went to this weekend.
I went to daytona beach for the weekend and stopped in a couple up there. one was coral reef express. they had quite alot of stuff, but was a bit expensive. especially the aquaculture rock. i about crapped my pants when i seen the price on the glass for 10.99 a pound. they will do shipping for you tho.
Then i went to poseidon aquarium in daytona. alot of nice fish and not too expensive. i would have bought something there but i wasnt leaving to come back to saint cloud til sunday.
Then I went to this place called amazing aquarium design thats on south nova road. i was greeted by a kid who looked no more than 18, but was extremely knowlegeable about the corals, he's beltin out all these latin names and stuff, and i was like "damn, this kid knows his stuff." The boss/owner, who i would bet some money is the kids dad, started talking to us, and he was extremely knowlegable. To put it quite simply, if you need any help setting up a tank or have any questions, I would go to this place. The reef tank that he has in the front of the store is gorgeous. They custom make tanks and hood covers. I will definitely go there again. They do alot of aquariums for the restaurants and hotels in daytona, and they also do the owner of Hawaiian Tropic's tank.
On the way back to Orlando i stopped at Seven Seas Aquarium. I think this is the best place for corals and maybe even fish in the area, maybe because i bout 6 corals there, and the guy cut me a deal on all 6. I will definitely go back there again. Cool guy runnin the place too.
The last place I stopped at was in Apopka called The Aquarium. They say its the largest aquarium in the southeast. I thought that would mean supplies and things to buy, but I was disappointed in the selection of things. What the phrase obviously meant was they have the largest tank in the southeast. The tank in the main room must be at least 15 feet long and 4 feet high. its pretty nice.
I forgot all about the one by Costco, thats a good place too. Ocean Blue is kinda expensive, altho the wet/dry i got there was almost 100 bucks cheaper than the one by Costco, I still cant figure that one out. Ive never been to Fishy Business, so I dunno.
Theres my opinion on the local stores. If i had to pick the top 3, I would go to Amazing Aquarium Design in Daytona, Seven Seas Aquarium in Altamonte, and the one by Costco (does it even have a real name?) It is the one by the dog grooming place right?
I didnt mention AquaHolics, but I do go there alot because they are local, and they have helped me out a great deal there too. Not a bad place I dont think
thats cool theres a few locals on here, cuz im still fairly new and I might need some help settin up my new 110 gallon once we move
