Hi everyone,
I just received a really cool present for my birthday.
I got an AAron Rowand (Whitesox Satrting Centerfielder) signed baseball bat ill do my best to describe everything:
The bat is all black and on the end of the barrel it has AARON ROWAND engraved into it
In about the middle of the barrel AAron Rowand signed with a thicker silver marker
The autograph is in perfect condition
The bat is currently being held in a long tube thingy
I have a certificate of authenticity signed and dated and everything
I also have a picture a 4 by 6 picture of aaron rowand signing the bat
i have an 81/2 by 11 picture of aaron rowand it is a closeup of him pointing the bat at "you" it is in a frame
Everything is in perfect condition
i was wondering if anyone had any idea on what the price for this is
will the price go up if the whitesox make it to or win the world series?
what would you pay for it (by "it" i mean everything together)?
thanks in advance (i hope)
thomas

Check your yellow pages for a local appraioser. A local sports memorabilia shop can probably recommend someone or do the appraisal .
Unfortunately, the sports memorabilia industry is loaded with fakes.frauds, and forged signatures. Even with a COA, it still does not mean the item is legit and the signature original.
Here is one of many articles...
Outside the Lines: Memorabilia Fraud

Outside The Lines - Sports Heroes and Their Autographs
Bob Ley, host- If you're making a list and checking it twice, there's a pretty good chance there are some sports memorabilia items on your holiday shopping list. You may shortly be revising that list. And if you have bought such items in the past, you might find yourself quoting the San Diego federal judge who recently sentenced several sports autograph forgers to prison.
"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, specifically the happiness of following the national pastime, had been undone," said the judge by the massive operation that forged and sold bogus autographs. The FBI calls its investigation Operation Bullpen. And what it reveals should cause any sports fan who has ever bought an autographed item to question its authenticity.
Using wiretaps and hidden cameras -- and you will see some of that videotape shortly -- investigators uncovered a ring of forgers and distributors flooding the marketplace. The demand was there.

Ok so you got this really cool gift and now you want to sell it. If I was the person giving it to you and knew you were just gonna turn around and sell it I would take it back. No offense but that was very nice of someone to give that to you on a special occasion. KEEP IT. Dont be selfish and turn around and sell it. My 2 cents

I beleive you misunderstood the poster. My read is that he would like to know what it is worth....either an appraisal or how much someone would pay. I do not think he/she is looking to sell.
yes, it could go up in value should the Whit Sox make it to the World Series and win...especially if he is a pivotal player.
Sports memorabilia with current players is hot and cold...all depends on the player and team.

My bad - I jumped ahead of myself. Yes I agree it would be very cool to see what its worth. Keep it though. Very nice thought of the person whom you recieved it from.

I have many years of sports memorabilia collected from various figures. It will only go up in value. The couple of bucks you might get now won't be worth it later on, you'll regret not keeping it! Been there done that and LEARNED from the mistake!
Just my experienced opinion!
I'll try and post a picture of one of my favorites!
