Anyone know what these are? I thought they were a type of aptasia but the people I bought my Berghia Nudibranches from think not.

You have tons of cool stuff growing on those rocks. Was there that many when you got the rock or have they multiplied? There a ton of species out there if they are multiplying then they are a nuisance and need to be dealt with. My butterflies would have field day in your tank.

No the rock I had for 15 years and sat dry for 10 years and decided to get back into reefing so I cleaned it up and added 10 lbs of Garf's Grunge and some corals that came on frags. This is what I have a year later. it is spreading slowly so maybe I should get a butterfly if they will eat it. Will have to research and see how they will do in a 75 gallon tank.
Thanks,
Cody

Did some research and a Butterfly will eat pretty much every type of critter and coral in my tank so I guess it wont be a good Idea

Put 10 peppermint shrimp in a while back hoping I would get at least a couple of the right ones but so far no luck

Is it on only one rock? Can you take the rock out of the tank? If so, and there are no corals you really like on it maybe a freshwater swim for a few hours kill it all, I don't know if peroxide would kill them, or maybe just get a different rock. Throw this one out or trade it to a LFS for credit or see if they will hold the rock with some butterfly fish for a few weeks. My LFS will do a lot to help out a good customer. Just a few ideas.

I used to use straight calcium paste on aptasias which would bun them to death. Sometimes with success. I have heard of joes juice as well.

They are on several rocks with and without corals. I have had some luck with aptasiaX but I would like to go more natural if possible. I will try the calcium paste. How long do I need to leave powerheads off?
