Anyone thought of this?

Had my DT lying fallow for 7 weeks due to an outbreak of ich, during which I've had some time to tinker.
I like piling my LR up against the back of the tank, this presents obvious circulation problems beneath and behind the rocks to which I might have found sort of an answer to detritus build-up.
I cut about a 4' length of 4" pvc pipe, drilled several staggered 1" holes along it length except for that side which would rest on the bottom of the tank, and leaving about 8" on one end undrilled.
On one end of the tank towards the bottom back corner I placed a CA 1800 powerhead I had lying around. I then positioned the undrilled end of the pipe partly over the nozzle of the powerhead hoping it would act as an eductor, which it did. Water is drawn in through one end and the parallel holes then exhausted out the far end.
I then artfully piled 400 or so pounds of my liverock on top of the pipe obscureing it and the powerhead in the process, and leaving a couple feet of aquarium without liverock piled against it at one end.
The system works like a charm. I can actually watch food be drawn into the rockwork, then instantly be expelled out the end, till it can be picked off.
Only problem is sand was piling against the far glass, but I sort of defused the flow with a couple of lettuce coral skeletons, and there is a small pile of sand but it has stabilized.
Any thoughts, comments, or questions?

great idea. The only ? I would have is did you pile the rock around the powerhead in a way that you could pull the PH out when it's time to clean it without having to remove rock ?
