I'm doing the roof on an extreme home makover job on wednesday night, they have allotted 4 hours to do the entire roof, there is going to be 10or11 of us on that one roof. talk about insane. I'm kind of excited but I am kind of dreading it. I guess my buddy got hired to do it and he asked me to help out
crazy stuff.

Ill give ya $10 if you put some Frag Glue on Tys Bullhorn Mouthpiece.
Really though im not amazed at how fast those houses go together but i am interested in the quality of them when finished.Im curious if they sacrifice quality for speed? Either way i love the show and the great things they do for people.

Those shows are heart wrenching. I haven't watched them in a while though. It is great what they have done for some people and those houses are beautiful when they get done.

didnt ask, my buddy needed a hand, so I'm going to help out. I imagine being sponsered by hollywood (or where ever) the contractors are getting paid well, or promotional consideration etc.

Wow that'd be cool to be on that show. I used to watch it, but I stopped. I don't know why, just kinda did. That's cool though.

I'm addicted to home improvement/decorating shows, so I do enjoy watching Extreme Home Makeover. But I always cry at end when I see the families overwhelmed with emotion at seeing their new home.

I think it's great that you get to be a part of something that's going to mean so much to one family.

Be sure to update us on how it everything goes.

OK got a little more information on it today, its all charity, no money.

they are totally demolishing the house and moving its location to one side, I'm going down in the after noon to help finish framing, and set the trusses on for the roof, sheath it, then four crews equaling 25 guys, are each getting one panel of the roof, start to finish on the roof, Four hours...... there is a total of 120+ or - hours start to finish the entire house...... holy turd on a tortilla. so I am mising work wed and thurs to go do this.
they provide shirts and hard hats that you have to wear... I might slap a zoo med sticker on the back of the hardhat If I wont get kicked off site for it. so I would say look for the white hard hat with the zoo med sticker. I'll try and find out the airdate when I can.

even more information,
a bunch of their carpenters backed out, and they are falling behind schedual, I'm going down first thing in the morning to help pick up some of the slack. If I didnt have to get a final coat of polyurethane on my floor tonight I would go down tonight, but I have guests coming this weekend, and I cant put the furniture back for 72 hours so it has to be done tonight.

why the heck would people sign on for something like this then back out? people really tick me off sometimes. but I will probably be there for 48-72 hours or so, catch a nap in my car if/when I need it.

they were so far behind schedule it wasnt even funny, I got down there about one in the after noon and worked on the place for about 12 hours, doing just about everything, we got one section of roof done by the time I needed to come home and go to bed. (the garage) if any one watches this episode and wants to try and find me, look for the guy hanging by one foot off the peak of the first section of roof to get done (the only part roofable at the time) nailing and putting seam tape on the decking for the roof.
The guy from that show dirty jobs was there.
and I guess I dont know what the host of this show looks like because I was talking to some guy for about 3-4 minutes before a crowd of spectators started yelling for him to come give them his autograph....
eh. whatever, I didnt see him swinging a hammer.
half the voluteers apparantly volunteered so they could go stand around in hopes of getting on the show. People are lazy. bleah, I'm tired. there were more people just standing around in the way than actually working.

I've met kirsty alley a dozen times and never asked for an autograph (I have even worked on her house with my uncle, he's her plumber), I've met john travolta didnt ask, I've met the marshal tucker band again didnt ask, I've met trent rezner again didnt ask, I'm not a big autograph person. its just handwriting to me. I dont know, they are people nothing more. sure they make good money and everyone knows them..... but whatever, I guess I'm not impressed or inspired by celebrity. heck I had dinner at a resturaunt sitting next to half of the wwc wrestlers, definatly not going to be rude enough to interupt their dinner and ask for an autograph. gotta be honest though those are some of the biggest guys I have ever seen in real life.
