I am getting ready to set up a larger tank. :D Anyone that has one of this size, can you please tell me your tank components such as lighting, filtration, fish, etc, and possibly a picture? Esp. VHO's vrs. MH. And about your equipment, are you satisfied with that product?
Thank you! :)

I have the following...
40 gal acrylic
380 watts VHO
CPR Bak pak modified.
CPR Hang on refugium
DSB and Live rock (no additional filtration)
Fish limited to Maroon clown pair, Blenny, Firefish.
Wish I had a bigger tank, but I would probably say the same if I had a 100gal. Acrylic is light and since I live in California, less likely to shatter due to earthquake (falling live rock). Limits you lighting options, scratches easy, and holds heat.
My advice..go as big as you can afford and get the best lights you can afford. This hobby is addictive and you always seem to want more.

You got that right. There is always the Aquarium Shop on High Point Road. But they seem to be too high in price. Good quality stuff at Aquamains. I picked up a Frogspawn frag for $9.99!

I have a 54 corner bowfront. Lighting is a single 250 watt MH pendant. 12K bulb. Filtration is an Amiracle overflow plumbed to a 18 gallon Rubbermaid sump. Inside the sump is a DIY venturi protein skimmer and a heater. A Mag 12 is the return pump and the skimmer pump (t'ed together). I have about 60-70 pounds of live rock and a 2" sand bed. It is all soft corals except the big red brain coral. Everything works great and I have no need or plans for changing anything (except the bulb every 9 months). Attached is a picture.

P.S. there is no more power head in the tank, and I have added a 1/2" sea swirl for my return. Here a a picture of the brain coral.
