After 5 weeks of reading and reading and more reading I decided its time to buy!! Heres the deal. I want to get a 55g tank, a prizm hang on skimmer 4x96 watt lighting VHO.40lbs sand, 20 lbs Agra Alive, about 50 lbs live rock. What size heater do i need. Do I need anything else???

Also add emporer 400 filter.

This sounds great but one suggestion I would make is go with the 75. Easier to stabilize a larger tank and the main difference is the width of the tank (front to back distance). much easier to aquascape a 75 as there is an additional 6" or so. I bought a 50 (48X12X18) and find it really tough to have a nice LR layout with only 12" front to back.

Ditto on the 75! I wish I had started there. Otherwise, more sand! Besides that, your well on the way!
