Apex and Kessil

I have purchased a Kessil 160w, and love it. I am looking into controlling the light and am debating if I should buy the Kessil controller or maybe now is the time to look into an Apex system. The only problem is I don't have $530 to drop on an Apex System. I noticed that you can buy parts of the system separately, Base unit, Power strip, Display, Ph probe. What I am wondering is what would be the bare minimum that I would need to run the kessil?

I use the kessil controller to control mine on two tanks (one controller). Very easy to use.

For the purpose of controlling the lights I'd stick with the manufacturers remote.

There are quite a few mixed opinions on using the apex for controlling newer generation led fixtures. At the very least they add more technical complexity and can make it harder to trouble shoot problems.

Apex, really is a much more decent option for DIY's who want full programmable control with their homemade led fixture designs.

But you'd need the base unit, controler, vdm module and the proper cable to connect the fixture to the vdm modul. About a extra $120 to the basic controler packages being offered.
