Which is the hardiest? Anyone have any thoughts on the differences between the common and the maroon clownfish?

They are both about equally hardy. the maroon females get larger and are one of the most aggressive clownfish out there thus need a slightly larger tank. Maroons also will take to anemones more readily than captive bred percs.

you're welcome.
If you are really interested in clownfish, I'd highly recommend the book entitled "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson. It goes over all most species in detail from the tank setup to disease to feeding and several good chapters on breeding.
