aptasia help?

I have been following this topic now for a while and have tried almost all the ideas. I have bought 30 pepermint shrimp from 4 different places. I have tried the "Stop Aptasia" chemical from an online store. I have tried boiling water. So far the only thing that works is Bleach (pull rock out of tank first). The aptasia is now solid across my tank which is keeping the corals from opening up. Some are getting pretty big, 4" tall in some places. What's next?

if you haven't looked into them before, maybe they can help

Hi,
Well first I would stay away from chemical additives. So here's more to try. First are you using a syring with a needle? This would help greatly with the hot water approach. If not you can use a flavor injector for meats, they sell them at most stores. Try digging around in the hole to get them. I would try again the water and then try kalking the S.O.B. by injecting them with the kalk paste you don't use for the drips. And finally the end all, is just to find out exactly where they are hiding and epoxy the holes shut with aquarium epoxy like you would anchor corals down with.. This is the best in my opinion, just make sure they don't have other holes.. most of the time you will never see the little

it's weird...they are a type of anemone...we try so hard to kill them but they won't die! We try so hard to keep "good" anemone's alive but all they do is die! Ironic, don't ya think! ;)

Hey fshhub! I am going to try 4 of the nudis you suggested in the article. I'll post later and let everyone know if they worked.

ryano, supposedly htey are easy ot breed too, if you get 4, try it, they aren't cheap, the few other place i saw them wer more like 35$ or more, and the good thing is that they only eat aptaisia, that can be a bad thing if you try to keep them(gotta feed them), but if you can raise aiptiasia in a seperate tank, and breed some, $$$, it ouwld only have to be a small tank, say 10 gallons or so
just an idea

I agree with only getting one or two. As the article said they ONLY eat aptsias. So when they are gone they will starve.

Solution to aiptasia, killer crabs, mantis shrimp, or even bad water quality -DYNOMITE
If you like less effective method check out this link

aczmey, i like your approach, DYNOMITE everything, i am almost sure it would work, but i am affraid it may scare my fish, so i don't think i will, i really don't want ot battle with ick in my tank, so i think i'll try one of my reccomendations for now, okay, but if that does not work, i'll call you, okay?
waht is your phone number, incase i need to get another opinion or help in an emergency some night??

funny the peppermint shrimp didn't work, I had a mess of those pain in the butts, bought one shrimp and he wipped them out, better than dynomite.......lol

the only problem with nudis are that once the aiptasia is gone they will starve and die. When they do this, they can release toxins into the tank that can be VERY BAD!
a syringe with kalkwasser, IMEO, is the safest and most reliable method of ridding those pesky little

the bergias are supposed to be awesome with aptasia and will probably die without them to eat. i agree with only 1 but when your aptasia is all gone you could lend him out or sell him because just about everybody ends up with aptasia and that way it won't die and poison your tank. just a suggestion
