I was at my lfs today and was asking about how to get rid of aptasia other than peppermint shrimps. He suggested using marine epoxy that you use to attach corals to rocks. I bought a tube of it and just took a bit and covered over the aptasia. The epoxy will cure from the water and turn hard. It eventually becomes part of the rock and the coraline will just grow over it. Just another alternative other than shrimp or injections.

I had a really bad outbreak until I found my best friends in the world.. Peppermint Shrimp!!!
Key to them is Large numbers. I had 15 in my 180.. Some got eaten but the ones that made have completly cleared the tank of apstasia. I have none (that I can see) where I had over 75 2 months ago..
Thanks SWF.com !!!!!!

Discus King has the right idea...
Mix some Turbo Calcium with water .... Put about 3cc of it into a syringe... Stick it right inside him ,and blast him with it ... It works great for me ...
Pep. Shrimp don't touch the large ones I had in my tank...
Also , NEVER tear or cut one off.... You will then have hundreds of them...

yeah i guess you would be right crazyelvis. i would try the calc injection. heard from many of people that it works great.

Can anyone give me an idea of what Apstasia actually looks like? I can't get the search feature to work for some reason. I think I may have one. There's something moves around a lot, and he looks a lot like a small anemone. And from what I've heard, Apstasia looks like Anemones. Hmmm. :)

Ok. I've decided after searching and finding some pictures that I definatly have an Aptasia. From what I can tell its only one right now, but he's doubled in size in the last week or two. Now my question about the injection is...do you use a blount tipped syringe, or does it have to be a needle? I wasn't sure exactly how that worked.
