Aptasia VS Kalkwasser - Help

I have a problem with Aptasia over running my tank. I mixed a thick solution of Kalkwasser and water and feed it to the Aptasia through a needle. It caused a lot of free floating particles of Kalk in the tank so I stopped. Is this the proper method for killing of the aptasia with Kalk????

Where did you hear of something so absurd??!!
Mostly, people use Joe's Juice to get rid of aiptasia. If you want the natural alternative, drop in about a half a dozen peppermint shrimp. (make sure they are peppermints and not camel backs.)
Good luck.

Kalk will do it. Some will float out like it did. How are the aptasia that you zapped doing? Joes juice with the same application is good too. Lemon juice will do the same. Shooting it like you did with the needle is acceptable and should work. If less than a pea size blob floats off, that is ok. Just don't let it land on another coral. I usually swat the excess with my application apparatus (wooden down with syrninge and needle taped to it).

The trick is that the product has to be heavier than water, so it stay's on the aiptasia.

Yes you can use a kalk mixture to kill aptasia, or however it is spelled. I make sure it is a pretty think mixture. Also turn off your powerheads then inject the stuff while it is open. If you do it right the kalk will sit there in the apstatia and kill it. Also the apstatia will close around the kalk like a polyp does around food.

Like stated before, peppermint shrimp do a great job ridding tank of aptasia. Also try a copperband butterfy. I use to have hundreds of aptasia until I got shrimp and butterfly.

Thanks for the input. It's been 24 hours and all is well in the tank. The Aiptasia I hit are gone or have a small blob left of what was there. All the fish and soft corals are OK. I will do a few more this evening and shut down the power heads - Good Idea!
I have had 3 peppermint shrimp for the last month I did not see a change. Maybe once I thin the quantity of aiptasia they can handle the job.
