Aqua C Remora Pro problems - could garlic be the cause?

I purchased an Aqua C Remora Pro with pre-filter box about three weeks ago. It was skimming up a storm! I adjusted the water intake because the foam was too wet. Things were starting to normalize.
Then, I had a few white spots on blue tang and flame angel so I started feeding everyone food soaked in garlic oil.
My skimmer has stopped skimming! I adjust the water flow and still nothing!
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it the garlic oil?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Connie
PS: On a good note, I think the garlic is being effective against this little ick outbreak.

Any kind of oil or slimmy additive can stop your skimmer from working for a couple of days. Give it a little time, it will be OK.

I was wondering if the garlic oil was not the cause. I figured this would be especially true since the prefilter box provides good surface skimming.
From what I have read I need to feed garlic soaked food for a couple more weeks. Is there anything else I can do? Am I using too much garlic? I have been putting 1 to 2 small capsules of garlic oil on their food twice a day. This is about 5 to 10 drops.
Thanks,
Connie

skimmers usually won't work when the water is oily, as stated above. Since the skimmer is not working anyway while you have the garlic treatment going, why don't you take it off, clean up exposed parts as much as possible and then wait to return it to your tank after the garlic treatment is over and you've done a water change.

I've used Garlic also for ick and it worked. I soaked frozen food for about 2 hours and feed 2 times a day for 3 days and the ick was gone and has not returned.
I wouldnt worry about the skimmer not working properly over a short period of time.

Thanks for all of the great advice. I have been doing this for four days and the ick is gone on everyone but the regal blue tang. (Big surprise!) I am going to keep feeding them a little garlic maybe only once a day until his spots are gone, as well. He has "white spots" of various sizes and shapes off and on all of the time. I have had him for almost three years. I do have a UV sterilizer so I am hoping all will be gone soon. All fish have always eaten very well and acted normal. Also, they only had a very few small spots and no scratching.
The Remora Pro began to work again when I came home from work.
If you can not tell, I have had many small problems lately. It is time for them to stop!
