Aqua C Remora Pro

I just recieved my Aqua C Remora Pro skimmer today with the mag 3 pump for my 90 galloon reef tank. After setting it up today, rinsing it out with warm water and all of that, I plugged it in and everything seemed to be going great. This was however until I realized that the foam was coming out crazy from the top of the collection cup and filling the cup up with water like crazy. Now I know that there is a break in period and everything, but I thought in the break in period there was hardly any foam or anything produced? My tank has but up an running for probably two years now. What could be causing this and is there any way to fix it? Should I just let it go and it will be better after the break in period??
Thanks,
Justin

on the top of the skimmer thats the collection cup you can adjust the height for skimming buy slidding down the rubber bushing around the cup sounds like your to low

your probally the wrong way put the rubber bushing right in the middle of the collection cup evenly shouldn't fill up that quick after that

start with the rubber bushing in the middle of the collection cup give it 2 days to break in then adjust it down a little bit then wait a day to see what happens repeat process day by day till you get foam at a slow pace cup should fill half way in about 3 to 4 days with dark crappy stinky water not clear or alittle dirty dark brown

I think the instructions say that if you have certain additives in the water it could cause excess foam. Do you add anything to your water?

I add a thing called "Chlor out" to my water to get the chlorine out from my tap water. Should I be using something else like Amquel Plus to remove that or is that not the additives you are talking about?

most water additives will cause it to foam up like mad along with underwater epoxy and medications, your best bet would be using ro water so you dont have to add anything because you will have that problem everytime tyou top off for evaporation

Dont really want to get a ro unit because I have heard that it drastically cuts down on water pressure in the lines of a house, which then is not good if you have a ice-maker in your fridge. We have that at my house so I was told I could not do an ro unit. So that being said, would distilled water be ok then???

if you hook it up to the whole house it will reduce pressure but all you need to do is hook it up to a hosebib or use the sink attachment when you want to make water and put it away when you are done. distilled water is deffinetly better than tap i dont know if there are known downsides (silicate and phosphate not removed) to make it worse than rodi but it is better than tap

I just may do the distilled water then because I dont have enough money right now or soon to spare on a nice RO DI unit. Plus the water isn't filling up that fast in the collection cup anymore so maybe it is just the break in period. Yet I do have the cup as high as it can go so who knows...
