aqua c remora skimmer question

i just bought a new aqua c remora pro protein skimmer with a mag 3 pump and it arrived today. i hooked it up about an hour ago and there are bubbles rising to the collection cup and filling it with water. is this normal? it is also producing a LOT of microbubbles. when will it start collecting waste in the collection cup? i know it is an excellent skimmer, so is it just taking its time?

Yep, just taking its time, mine took a week before it really started to do anything but make bubles. FYI my micro bubles never completely went away, for some they do some they dont. I just ordered the surfaceskimmer/bubble trap, seems to work good.

you know this is an excellent skimmer?
i don't think you do, since you've only had it for 1 day.
some people say it's excellent, some say it's worthless. for this particular skimmer, i'd say it's entirely up to your personal experience.
if you asked me about the microbubbles, i'd tell you they never go away- atleast they didn't in my tank.

yes its normal. try raising the collection cup.

The bubbles do go away but not completely, atleast they didnt with mine, I bought the aqua C bubble trap to go with mine, that did the trick, no bubbles at all since adding that.

you mean the prefilter box? the stuff in the collection cup is yellow liquid. ill try raising the collection cup, but i think it is still "breaking in".

The prefilter box is the same thing as the bubble trap, its a 2 in one unit.
Its still breaking in, adjust the hight of the cup to your preferance, farther down for lighter skimmate but more of it or farther up for much more concentrated but less skimmate.

Give it a week or 2. The bubbles went away entirely on mine. And yes, it is an excellent skimmer.
