I have a new(used) skimmer that was given to me, my question is... where the skimmer meets the foam tower there is a gap on the one side, was it once a tight seal with silicone or something? Is it a problem for my skimmers performance Thanks for any help

There is no silicone used on these skimmers, can you get a pic of the area in question or give a little better description of where you are talking about? It sounds like you are talking about the area where the dark acrylic box meets the clear acrylic cylinder for the foam tower but I am not sure. If this is the area that is broken then it needs to be repair for the skimmer to operate correctly.

it should be sealed and should be done with acrylic solvent weld. silicon doesn't bond well to acylic/plastic
