Recently purchased the Prefilter box (which can be seen in the middle of this page: http://www.proteinskimmer.com/accessories.htm). Installed it yesterday after I did my first water change. Seems to work well. Took a little adjusting to get it at the right level. When it was too high the powerhead would suck up the water quicker than it was filling up. Moved it down until I got it just right. I will just have to monitor the water level very close on a daily basis now. Used to only check about once a week. Now if it gets too low my powerhead will run dry.
My only worry is that my Damsels will swim into those small slits and somehow get down near the powerhead and get sucked in. So far they haven't gone near it, but they could swim right in them if they wanted to. Was going to go get a piece of screen to clamp to the intake of the powerhead to prevent them from getting sucked in, but I dont want them even getting in the box. Any suggestions?
