Anybody have an AquaC Remora skimmer? How does the the spray injection work, and is the pump in tank or outside?
This skimmer only needs 2-3" of clearance...now that's cool, if it works!
Need any user comments/input or tips from someone who has info on the skimmer.

Hey, Beth. Percula asked for info regarding this same skimmer. Go to the Fish-Only discussion board to see my response.
Hope it helps....

I've heard only good things also. I heard it kicks butt (can I say that?) over the Turbofloater and the Backpack. It sounds impressive though I have yet to try it. I was going to get one once I set up my 75 FO.

JCB, you must have resently posted there, because when I did a "search" no one had answered percula's ?? yet!
[You see, I do follow my own advise and "search" first!
]
So, is the pump to the Remora inside the tank or outside? Can you describe the mechanics a bit?
Wrass, when you get one, let me know how you like it...and yes, "butt" is ok, but the 3-letter word that starts with an "a" would be pushing it...

Thanks

Silence is golden in my house....so please no noisy skimming, pumping, filtering....etc.
If this skimmer is noisy, forget it. Also, where is the pump, in tank?
Glad to hear that don't hate Tangs,Kraz, however, after your flush down the toilet comments.....hmmm

Beth, the skimmer is very compact and can be easily hung on either the back of the tank or the side of the sump. The one I have is hanging on the back of the sump. As far as noisy, the water does splash (waterfall) back into the sump. This makes, what I consider, a pleasing running-river-like sound. I think it's rather soothing and relaxing. With this I don't have to spend extra money to buy one of those "nature" sound devices. Other than that sound (noise), I would totally disagree that it's noisy.
The following info is provided as part of the manual by the manufaturer. I went ahead and typed it verbatim (especially for you, beth). It reads: "AquaC skimmers inject water through a specially engineered port designed to create a powerful air-induction spray. As this spray bombards the water within the skimmer's main chamber, thousands of bubbles are formed and allowed to react with unwanted proteins and waste. After the bubbles become coated with organic wastes, they rise up the foam tower and spill into the collection cup. Unlike traditional venturi or air-stone skimmers, your AquaC High Performance Skimmer processes aquarium waste with maximun efficiency."
I hope this helps....

Thank you so much JCB for taking the time and going thru the trouble! And your humor about the splashy thing was cute

After my BAD experience with the SEACLONE, I don't want waste anymore money on worthless skimmers.
