AquaC question

I've decided to go with an AquaC skimmer, and I'm going to order one this week, but I've got a question:
What does the drain fitting do? It seems to be advantageous, the way all the sites talk about it, but I don't see what it does.
Does it just allow the whole skimmer body to be drained without removing it from the tank?
BTW, I'm talking about the Remora/Urchin models.

The drain fitting is used for the waste chamber. You would run the drain tube to a bigger container, i.e. soda bottle. Its so you won't have to remove the collection cup as often to clean. I didn't get it on my remora pro though because I didn't feel the need. The remora can't overflow in the waste cup as it will just funnel excess water back into the tank
