So im starting a 24gal Aquapod. I have a 150g in the house already, and i want a tank in my room. first off, i know that protein skimmers are essential and was wondering what you guys/gals out there have for a skimmer in the 24 gal aquapod and or biocubes. i have found drop in (sump) protein skimmers and the fission skimmer that attaches. Is one better than the other. i would love any input on that. Secondly, what have people done with the lighting and addition of power heads.any information will help

I have the 29g biocube and I don't have a skimmer. I just do weekly water changes of 3-4 gal and save the money that a skimmer costs. The RO/IO water that I buy is only .25/gal so it's an easy thing to do. Sure if I had a skimmer I may be able to go to once a month water changes but what the heck. I, also, have good water movement by splitting my pump return and I added a MaxiJet 900 PH.
