Hi everyone,
I amnew to this board and to saltwater tanks. We ahve ahd our 24g aquapod for about 6 weeks. Things seem to be going great. Taking it slow, but what kind and how much coral can I put in this size tank. I have a zoo and a xenia so far, but wasn't sure what I can have with the aquapod's lighting. My local guys are great, but I ust wanted all of your expert opinions. Thanks in advance for the help.
My stock list:
2 blue damsels
1 clown
1 flame angle
2 emerald crabs
2 red leg hermits
2 blue leg hermits and
1 shrimp (red with a white stripe, though I haven't seen
him since I put him in the tank 2 days ago)
Any input or suggestions...I really want to stock up on coral, but I am not sure what kind and how quick I could add it?

Hi Dixie and welcome,
I too am relitivley new here as well. I have the bio cube 29, and ironically am from RI too. I am just preparing you for what you might be in for. Having a flame angel in a tank that size you are going to hear from alot of people that 1st its wayyy to big of a fish for a tank that size and 2nd with all the other fish you have in there you are over stocked. If you added all that stuff inside of 6 weeks you are def not taking it slow. How long did you let your tank cycle for? Most people let it cycle for 2 to 6 weeks. I too was pretty aggressive with adding stuff to my tank, but all my fish are really small. Be sure you keep up on your water changes and check your levels too.
As far as what corals you can have with the stock lighting? Pretty much all soft corals and leathers are acceptable. There is a pretty long list as to what they are and there are some soft corals that require a strong light but for the most part its a good guidline. You didnt mention live rock, if you had any and how much. IMO I would increase your clean up crew a bit too. Get some snails and a few more hermits.
I am suprised your damsels put up with your clown fish as I am assuming you used them to cycle your tank. People usually take them out after its cycled. Good luck and I hope they dont boss your clown around.
What fish store do you go to in RI? There are a few to avoid IMO and then there are a couple that are elite in knowledge and in product again IMO. Just wondering, its not to often you see people from RI on message boards.
Welcome :joy:
