Hi All,
As an introduction, I just joined this forum. I also just moved to southeast Virginia near the coast. I have a 55 gallon and a 35 gallon (hexagon) tank. Have had both saltwater and fresh water aquariums for years.
Request: I wanted to use local fish and invertebrates from the Chesapeake Bay. I am looking for advice from anyone who may have done this. I am doing this for several reasons, one of which is my interest and concern for the Chesapeake Bay and in my way, to raise awareness as to what lives here.
Specifically, I am looking for types of fish and invertabrates. Several species are protected and others seem not to be fit for these smaller aquariums (e.g. I really like the Look down fish but it gets too big). Also, I have researched shellfish and it appears that an oyster, while great for filtering water, would eventually starve unless almost constantly feeding.
Seems like so far my best bet is hermit crabs and minnows. Just want something that may be more attractive.
I appreciate any feedback.
Harry
