Aquarium Help

Hello,
I started my first saltwater tank a year ago and updated to a larger tank in June. My tank was progressing perfectly untill recently. I currently have a 65 gallon saltwater aquarium and have even started experimenting with some corals. I run a canister filter that just started producing an excess of microbubbles ( we're planning on building a sump/refuge within the next two weeks) and a Aqua C remora protein skimmer which works beautifully. Coraline algae is growing on the back of the tank, which i'm told is a good sign. My problem is that currently my tank is beginning to look cloudy and my coral appear to be dying. I recently had to throw out a polyp frag and a leather frag...They appeared to be covered in white mucus and slowly withered away. Additionally, i have a grass like coral that was doing wonderfuly that has since almost closed up. Yet, another polyp frag and several mushroom corals are doing wonderfully. My fish and inverts are doing well and my levels are all normal ( i did have a spike in my nitrate but i attribute that to the canister filter .10) and have been for some time. I do a 20 percent water change every week. The only thing i've changed is the type of salt i use...I've switched from Red Sea brand to a reef salt additionally, I did add some kent marine coral vite however, I wouldnt think that would be the problem. Any help would be great!!!!!!

the kent coralvite could be the problem. too much of a good thing can be detrimental.
you really need to test the water before you add anything to be sure it's lacking.
what "reef salt" are you speaking of?
also, are you sure the microbubbles are coming from the cannister and not the remora?
how do you know the skimmer is working beautifully. if you have cloudy water i'd say it's not.
what are your water parameters?
how much live rock?
how often do you clean the cannister?

Just the microbubbles can lead to problems. Is the intake of the cannister anywhere near where it can pull in bubbles? Are all your connections tight or is air getting into the lines? Deal with microbubble first. Then deal with the cloudy water - I am betting it's all tied together.
