i heard in one of these posts that an anemone died and while the person was trying to take it out of the tank i guess it broke apart killing every thing in the tank in less than 5 minutes.

Well lets take a look here.
1. There are anemone toxins
2. There are nematocysts in the anemone
3. There is most certainly the possibility of an ammonia spike do to a dying animal.
I can't say that all of these thing will occur during the death of an anemone. We would definatly assume an ammonia spike.
It is possible for the anemone to fire its nematocysts.
It may or may not release toxins depending on how it died and if someone were able to get most of it out, or sensably try to syphon the body out without netting it and disturbing and thus releasing these toxins, depending on the rate of decay, and since anemones decompse very quickly sensible removal is a must.
So, in theroy if these things are possible depending on anemone species, then the matter comes down to damage control to eliminate or control all the possibilities.
1. Water change
2. Fresh Carbon - if necessary run carbon for first 24 hours then change it and let it run for 48 hours.
3. Removal of anemone. Syphon it if possible, bag it out if possible, but do not net it or grab it as it will simply fall apart and foul your water.
4. I think anyone that owns a tank should have a polyfilter, and in emergancies run it.
Those are my thoughts.
