I recently got one as a treat for my puffer and trigger..they went to town on it,instantaneously ..when i my came home the next day my puffer was not his normal self. he seemed a little more lethargic and he seemed to be expelling alot of waste/fecal....and it looked weird. I never seen it look like this..it was pink and big. Now i have rarely seen his fecal, but is this normal looking?? Can the color be from the krill i gave him?? It came out pretty solid too

We feed our full-grown volitans small crayfish on occasion, but we always pull off their pincers first.
As for krill, a steady diet of them is unhealthy for many predators. If you aren't already doing so, add some other foods to the puffer's diet.

I think ive heard that before regarding krill. I usually mix it up. I feed them frozen scallop, mussels, and i recently tried the krill. Why is the krill bad for them? Or is it only bad if its fed to them exclusively?

If you are talking freshwater crawfish then no IMO feeding saltwater fish freshwater fish is never a good idea! Krill is not bad ut you have to switch it up. no matter what you feed you must switch it up. You can get uncooked frozen shrimp, octopus, and all sorts of stuff at the grocery store that works great and is cheap. Just ask them to order it if they have to. Make sure what ever it is, it's uncooked. I pay like .20 per pound for octopus. they order a case for me for like $10 and i freeze it and have enough for like a year.

Shrimp flesh is different than FW fish flesh...they have different nutritional profiles (PE mysis is a FW species, BTW). As for keeping food frozen a year, that's a bit long. 6 mos is usually a better cut-off point, as it does lose nutritional value.
I agree that the grocewry store seafood counter or local fish market are the best places to get "fish food"...it's cheaper and better quality than the stuff at the LFS.
The issues with krill and lockjaw isn't well understood, altho there is a school of thought that it causes a mineral deficiency. The key is everything in moderation.

I guess i never thought about the octopus losing nutritional value. I just keep it in my deep freeze all wrapped up and take out one when i need it and move it to my regular freezer cut a piece off thaw it in saltwater and feed.
About the lock jaw i do believe also that it is a mineral deficiency. But no matter what just switch it up i feed salmon shrimp octopus little neck clams scallops and some times a little pellet food.
