Hi everybody,
Just a quick question about lionfish. Some sites say that lions are reef safe with caution but don't explain what that means. Other sites this one included say that they are not reef safe. Can someone please give me a straight answer? I just want to know if I can put one in my 55 reef or in my 30 fowlr. Hopefully you guys can give me some insight into these fish.
Thanks guys

They are definitely reef safe in the fact that they will not eat corals. So if you are keeping just a coral reef, they are safe. However, they are not safe for small fish and inverts, like cleaner shrimp, so in that aspect, they are not reef safe.

With a small tank like yours, I would stick with small lions, like a fuzzy dwarf, attenata, or fu manchu. Definately not a volitans!!!!
