Are Marineland Maxi-jets good return pumps?

Now that my big tank is finally set up again, I've run into a minor problem that has to be dealt with quickly. The return pump I have here had GOT to go. It's not really loud, but it has an annoying buzz that's JUST audible enough to set your teeth on edge and destroy that tranquil effect we're trying to achieve here. I can hear it from the den, (two rooms away) so it's definitely too loud for comfort. This pump is an older Odyssea 1000gph model with a new impeller, and I can tell that The Wife is starting to get irritated with the constant hum.
I found a great deal on a Maxi-Jet NJ-3000. Does anyone here use this as their return pump? I see good reviews online, but I would prefer some chime-ins here with people who have used them, and if they would recommend (or not!) this pump. I realize the GPH is lower, but I crank the Odyssea pump down anyway to facilitate slow flow thru the fuge, so no great loss there as far as I can tell.
I would consider a Mag-9, but they seem a little out of my price range compared to what I could find for the Maxi Jet.

Hey buddy, I have a mag 9. I told you we could trade.
I wouldn't go with the maxijets. They have no pressure.

I love my Eheim return pumps. They are pricier than the max jet, but worth the money. I would put up with the hum a little longer, and get a really good pump to replace it with.
