I'm switching over to reef soon, are there any anemones that my 2 percula clowns would host that could survive under 400wats of Power Compacts. I'm looking at the Current USA...there 500$ and have 4x96w...2 are blue actnics. Would this work? If there is an anemone that would work how much circulation do I need...right now I'm at 15x overlap but once I convert to reef and a sump I'm looking at 20-30x...is this enough or to much?

Turnover rate is fine.
Depending on size of tank your 400w pc should be plenty for a BTA. Depening on depth of tank if it is 24 inches deep then you will want MH lighting.

it's a 95gal...it's 24 in deep but I have a 6in sand bed so more of 18-19in deep. Would that work? BTW thanks thomas for responding to my posts

Your welcome.
By far the anemone with the highest sucess rate is the Bubble Tip Anemon. It is also the one that will host the most species of clown fish. The BTA has the ability to climb the rock work so that it can reach more light, whereas say an LTA would like to burry its pedal disc into the sandbed.
I'd say you would do just fine with a BTA, RBTA or GBTA (rose or green) most BTA's tend to be tan/brown to green. I've even seen some that look blue/green.

thanks, I'm going to look into a BTA, my clowns are tank raised, I checked and there parents were from the wild...will there be a good chance they won't host?

You never know, instinct plays an important role, also if the eggs were any where near an anemone then they could even (so they say) pick up the scent of an anemone that way.

cool...the clown fish I got were born in my LFS in their display tank and they raised them...in the display tank the parents hosted a LTA and the clowns nest was right next to it...looks like I have good chances

thats an interesting article...that means I have a pretty good shot if they recognize the scent or "perfume". I'm not sure if you will be able to anwser this but do all anemones have the same "perfume" or do they eaceh have different ones. If they have different ones I will be getting an LTA, if theres no difference then I'm getting a BTA

That's like saying all women smell alike
, I very much doubt anemones have the same smell species to species. Not even sure if one LTA would smell the same as another LTA.
