I have been cycling my tank for about 8 weeks. My nitrates are 10 and the nitrites and ammonia are at 0. We just got 2 clownfish yesterday and they are staying in the same spot around the powerhead. Should they be swimming around the tank? The tank is 72 gal. and they are the only fish in there. im worried about them. Another thing. This morning when I turned on the light they had what looked like white spots. I thought for sure it was ich but as the day went on they went away. They ate very well too. what the heck is it? Bubbles?? :notsure:

If they are eating , that is a good sign. A lot of clownfish will swim in the same spot. My friend had one, that would never leave the corner of the tank, I'm not sure why they do it. :notsure: It is possible that the white spots were micro bubbles. But it could have been something else. It sounds to me like your cycle is over. Do a water change to get those trates at 0.
Hope this helps.
Wait on more replys about the white spots.

Most young tank raised clowns will do that. They are only used to being in small breeders tanks anyway and the food always comes from the top. And not much swimming room.
Clowns like to be hosted by something and not stray far from it. In the wild this would be an anemone. Some tank raised clowns may loose this natural instinct to host but sometimes in a tank, the host could be any thing from the cleaning magnet to a power head or coral if theres no anemone.
Hopefully they will feel brave soon and begin to explore.
Sounds like ick to me......

the white spots are only there in the morning when i turn on the light and go away as the day goes on. They look good and are eating...there only a few spots...they are not covered. This morning they were on opposite ends of the tank..i thought the little one died.

It sounds to me like you have ick going on! do you have a quarintine tank set up? what else do you have in your tank? I am in the process of removing all of my fish to a QT tank so i can battle the ick! Not looking forward to this at all, But i need to Hypo the fish and let the ick run it's course.

The only other thing in the tank is the cleanup crew. We just got these fish 2 days ago. Do you think they came with the ich or they got it from my tank. I was going to do a 25% water change to bring my nitrates down..they are at 10...nitrites are 0 and ammonia is 0. I noticed temp was 82 this morning i turned it down. My salitity is high...1.025...I use RO water so i know i need to fix this today...I want to believe the white spots are bubbles or something..maybe salt..they are gone now..Im beside myself :notsure: Im getting a QT tank today when i get my water.

you could try getting liquid garlic from the fish store and that should take care of your ich problems, also the saltity is good at 1.20 to 1.23 try adding water to bring it down a bit.
