I was wondering if V. lions are fin nippers, because a have a marine betta that seems like his fins are being nipped on by something in the tank.
My fish livestock is:
2 V.Lion
Marine Betta
Brown Banded Shark
One thing I did notice is that the betta and shark hangs out with each other sometimes up under the same rock, but I have never seen them fight...Could the shark be attacking the betta when the lights go out?

Ive never heard of lions ripping fins. Never seen lionfish aggressive towards other livestock either.

its very possible that your shark is doing the nipping while the fish is in the rocks with the shark.bamboo sharks are bottom dwellers and when fish are sleeping make a much easier target for feeding even if the prey itself is too large he may be getting in a few nips when ever it is available to him..as for lions being nippers no they are pretty much food gulpers and swallow their pray whole.chances of your lion doing this damage is very unlikely

I say shark, and only nips because it's too big to eat.
Lions are not nippers. No teeth they either swallow or they don't...cut and dry
