Are wave maker systems good?

I was wondering if I should go with a wave maker system for my reef or just use my power heads by themselves. What do you guys think? Are there any benefits to the wave maker systems?

I think changing the currents around would be benifical to keep down dead spots.
however, make sure you buy durable enough pumps as the Koalia's didn't handle the challenge of constant cycling

There are quite a few good products that are designed just for that purpose....they are rather expensive, but your tank will thrive with good flow.
