Argh! I woke up to a light that wont go on.
Its all rusted by salt and I cant get the screws off!

That happened with my UV sterolizer. I had to throw it away. The part the bulb fit into had rusted into about 50 pieces. I looked up the company that made so that I could get some parts, but they had gone out of business.

Wiping down your lights should be a part of your weekly maintenance routine on your tank......Salt creep or spray is a pain, but will save you money if you wipe them down weekly.....Every week when I do a water change I wipe the bulbs down over my 300 gallon tank and only takes a hot second while the pump is pumping water back into the sump from the fishroon.....so I'm killing 2 birds with 1 stone, and it keeps the outputs of your lights up as well

Or you can just get some acrilic cut for the top of your tank a thin piece well do fine and use it as a cover it also reduces evaporation just make sure you have some ventalation.
You well have to clean that off every couple days but it beats having rusted lights. goto lowes they well show you what well be the right size and they well cut it to your specifications for free I paid 10 bucks for a sheet and got three hod out of it but I have a 37 gallon tank not sure how big yours is but I could not imagin you paying more than 20 bucks

Its just the darn screws. 3 lousy screws holding on a plastic cover. Damm
they dont make that light anymore. There isn't another light that fits in my eclipse 6.

i threw all that crap away...made my own canopy, without a glass top on your tank you will have minimal salt creep. I have penguin powerheads,,,they come with a little attachment that fans the water as it comes out. there is a name for what it is but i cant remember. anyways, i ajusted the ones i have that aggitate the water surface to the point where it aggitates, but creates no splash or bubbles., my lights are 4 inches or so above my tank. I have spash NONE and NO salt creep down the sides of my tank or anywhere but on the top of the powerheads which is so small amount i take my finger and brush them and it is gone. IMO "hanging your lights above the tank is the way to go., I had the factory set up, with the glass top, light bar crap, and salt creep was rediculas, I got shocked" and i cleaned every week" salt creep was on all 4 sides of the tank, it was hideous....i went to a saltwater fish seminar and listened to ol boy about and open top tank, and by god he was right. i haven't had to clean anything in 5 months., I inspect my bulbs regularly every week, but there is nothing. I keep checking though....hate to come home from work one day and not have a house due to fire from the lights. as long as your water movement at the surface is not splashing like crazy, and you have an open top, your solt creep will go down majorly. if you do have some splash..take your bulbs out and wipe them down with vinigar water solution to clean once a week.

A solid top will also create more heat in your tank that may turn into a pain to try and keep a constant temp.
