I plan on using several artificial plants/corals in my tank, primarily for use as hitching posts for my seahorses. Will the snails and/or shrimp help keep these clean, or should I expect to have to clean them myself?

I have a few fake hitches with my horses and although the snails do clean them, they can get a little scummy. I sometime take them out in water changes and swish them in old water or scrub them with my fingers under the siphon when changing water.
