i'm getting ready to start setting up my new 170g. with a 30 gallon sump and possibly my old 65 as a refugium, should I be at all worried about putting this on the first floor and not in the basement?
Thanks,
Jayme

The general rule for weight is about 10 lbs per gallon once setup..This includes rock, substrate. So your 170 could end up weighing over 1700lbs..So by all means you should be concerned about where you put this thing...Against a load bearing wall would be best.Or if you could support the floor under the tank by placing braces in the basement...If you are not sure,I'm sure you have a friend that could take a look and give you sound advise...
