ATO Options

I have looked up a few of them, I just want to hear some of YOUR opinions.
JBJ?
GAP products level-loc?
Reef fenatics level control kit?
Who has what?
Any good or bad experience?

I built mine with parts from auto top off dot com but that level lock looks hard to beat. I know the guy who owns the co from another board and saw it in the final design stages. If I hadn't already built my own I would have bought his.
The JBJ has a cool feature where if it signals to start adding water and the level sensor doesn't detect the water level has reached it's set level it stopped adding and sounds an alarm assuming either your source is dry, the pump has failed or the sensor has failed.
If you are topping off from an RO unit the Level Loc would be the way to go. If you have a res you fill then the JBJ is better. Dont know much about the reef fanatics

I run a JBJ ATO on my set up and I am very pleased with it, easy to set up and it's fairly inexpensive.

I've only had the JBJ ATO and it worked flawlessly for me. I used it with a micro-jet pump and 1/2" tubing.

Heres my setup/setup question.
Display and sump are in finished side of basement. RO storeage is on the completely opposite side of the basement. How would I get the water to the display?
That much Vynl tubing would cost ALOT and I would have no way to bring it down the wall to make it look nice and fit in with the room.
What should I do?

How does the level loc system work? I thought they both operated pumps, but it looks like the level loc actually hooks up to the RO line itself?
I might just get the JBJ and an aqua lifter and have a 15 - 20 gallon rubbermaid sitting near the tank. Any thoughts on this?

the JBJ might not work then. vinyl tubing is dirt cheap (like 75 cents a foot for 1/2") but the problem is you might need a pump bigger than the JBJ is designed to be used with do to the distance the water has to be pumped.
why dont you just set up a storage container or something by the aquarium and use the ATO as intended. sure you'd have to fill it up every once in a while but doesn't sound like you'd have far to carry the RO water over to it.

I have a Reef Fanatics for about 10 months now on my 29 biocube and it has worked flawlessly so far.

Just bought another 18 gallon rubbermaid, and I will be ordering the JBJ and the aqua lifter and some airline tonight. Hope this will work.
