attaching frags?

With regard to attaching frags to larger rock, is there a way other than a rubber band? Such as a safe adhesive etc? Thanks for any help

So reefkpr how do we attach Shrooms or Ricordias if we trade? Should we put them on a small rock with netting or rubber band them to the rock?

that way or I put them in a shallow dish of sand in a low flow area of the tank till they attach to some sand then glue it to a small piece of rock. I have also glued mushrooms with sucess beleive it or not.
The way I glue them is to put a dap of glue of a dry piece of rock and let it almost dry before I put the mushrom on it. I did this to my last mushrooms and only one didnt attach. I think I did 5 or 6 so it worked out pretty good.

sadly no the glue will not work under water. I think they need to redesign one you can use underwater but as of now superglue wont work right underwater.

have you ever used frag putty?...i was lookin around and i seen this putty for gluing frags and it is suppose to work underwater

the problem with frag putty is that it uses a chemical reaction that gets VERY hot and in some cases it will kill the coral from the heat when it used directly on the coral. It also doesnt work well for soft corals unless they are already on a rock or something for the putty to attach to.
It does work great putting rock to rock though.

oh ok....i was looking for something to attach a montipora cap. to a rock in my tank but i dont want to move my rock work...but i guess i will have to...thanks

I don't know about that. I have used it underwater without an issue.

second that.. For whole rocks with corals on it i also use white epoxy paste..its made for marine..its 2 part A and B, mix what u need of both ( same amount of each) wait 15 mins..and start the numbers on is ar PC11 beleive its made by marine power..and it works well under water soon as u get accustomed to it..spreads alittle harder underwater..but works great.Sorry for size.. not sure how to resize them.

i agree with michael and have to add the super glue gel comment again. as long as it is gel and not the regular stuff, it seems to work wonders underwater. the gel uses a polyester type adhesive that cures well underwater. as long as a "film" is created before it is placed in the water(merely seconds), you can pretty much glue your coral wherever you like(softie or sps)

Im interested in this glue too, right now my Torch is between 2 rocks... Hopefully it will hold ^^
