Attempting a Sump - I have no idea what I'm doing

So I want to try a sump to increase my bioload. What I have is a 20gallon long that I would like to turn into a sump/fuge. I have included a picture of what I want to do to it. The bad thing is that the sump will have to be placed next to my tank/stand because my stand isn't big enough to house it. So, I have also included how I want to pipe it or hose it (which would work better?). I am planning on buying a hang on overflow box for it, but don't know how to match a return pump with the overflow box, as I hear this can be tricky. I've done some research on sumps, but they are usually placed under the stand so I don't know how to work this one. Any advice on where I should go from here, or alterations to my plans would be very well appreciated.

There is enough info right here in the archives to make anybody an expert. Just do some research on the subject. It's not that difficult to do, but there is a little bit to it. Someone will be glad to help you along your way, but do some research here first!
