Attempting brain coral rescue....need help

Well the other day a friend of mine was going to throw away this what i assume is a brain coral. half of it looks dead allready and the other half is looking not so great. I guess the tank had been under some neglect lately and he was going to break down tank so i said i would take it and see if it is possible to revive it.
from the pic does it have any chance?
I am not that familiar with this coral so any advice would be great.
so far i have moved it around my 12g aquapod and it looks like it "inflates" more in this spot.

ok now that you found a spot that it seems to like leave it alone. observe it after the lights go out to see if any feeder tentacles come out if they do try and spot feed it a little mysis or cyclops or a similar meaty small food. basicly if you water is good and the lighting is sufficient, its about 50/50 depending on why it started receeding. if its something like WLD or then its pretty much doomed but if its from combat (stung by a coral or anemone) or just poor water it may recover. if you had a closer clear picture I may be able to eliminate WLD

also as for lighting I'm guessing by the reflection on the top of the water you have PC wich is fine for that coral generally. good luck.

thanks i will try and see if it has tentacles out at night. What is WLD? I will try and get a better pic but its tough b/c lights make it difficult to see any definition. It looks like its mouth has been staying open for long periods if that matters?

Also would it be better in a low flow area? and by being close to the top could it be to much light or is that not possible under PCs
