That's the way they work..They exchange heat from the tank and release it back to where every they are located at.. I don't run my chiller in the same room as the tank. Best places are outside or under the house.

possibly build a good sized box to house it in.. and get a rubber made container.. a good sized pump in the box you've made run a bunch of PVC.. thin, and then this should help cool it.. never tryed it.. dunno if it works, but good luck!

nooo way! it can work.. it'll kinda be like a chiller for hte chiller.. if that makes sense.. pretty much what you're doing is using the box to hold in the heat.. and the PVC you have in there is hooked up ot a pump.. the pump is loacted in a rubber made container filled with water.. doesn't matter what kind really. water is pumped through the PVC pipes and the hea tin teh box is being cooled, the now warmer water is pushed back into the rubbermade container

i understand now, but i dont think it will help much. Iam going to hook it up tomarrow. If the same as before happens, iam screwed.

you could allways sell your chiller, but before doing so buy a little refridgerator. get a good pump, tubing(note: not PVC) tubing, clear tubing, run it inside the fridge, (you'll have to drill a hole in it) and pump water through it.. it will cool it, and the water will return to your tank.. just keep an eye on it

i have thought about that, and looked at many designs. I dunno if it will work. It would be a hit or miss.

Why do you even need a chiller? I see you live in Florida, but I live in New Orleans, where it is just as hot, and my tank stays between 78 and 80. Don't you have an air conditioner? As long as the room stays 80 or below you should be fine.
A chiller is a complete waste of money.

and they either deal with the same problem as you, have windows open, live in cooler areas or have a much bigger room.
Chillers are heat exchangers, the remove the heat from the water and put into the air where they are located. Some may work better then others at doing this but they still do the same thing.

y dont u put the chiller in box and then have a fan draw air out to a tube that goes out side, just like fans in a kitchen that draw air to the outside

OK, i may be able to put the chiller in the next room behind the tank. One thing, that room is my bedroom. Will it get so hott that i cant sleep in there?

Are you running your lights in a canopy? MH's? how often does the chiller come on? My house was 90 yesterday and the chiller only ran twice (120 with 2x400 watt MH's). No canopy and a 9" fan blowing over the top of the tank. You can put the chiller outside without drilling holes, just go through the window.
