Hey guys, I saw this thread and had a quick question for Ryebread as well -
I'm looking at a Nikon Coolpix 5000 (used) for 550 - I used to have a Nikon a few years ago for my dive camera, and had no complaints, but have not played with their digitals at all - are they as good of quality as the 35mm? Also is this a pretty good deal on it? The guy is throwing in an extra battery, a case, and a few other accessories, I have been doing some searching and think its not too bad of a deal but would love to know what a camera person thinks.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi there-
Sorry....I didn't want to hijack someone's thread, so I made a new one.
A used Coolpix 5000 for $550 is a pretty decent deal........as long as it was bought from a reputable dealer with a USA warranty and all. If the camera is no longer under the one year USA warranty.......I would probably pass on the deal.
The 5000 is also one of the bodies from Nikon that is made of Magnesium Alloy which is very durable. Good build, good lens, good resolution.......could use a little more zoom, but it has great wide-angle.
Let me know if you have any questions on it.

Cool thanks - I am not sure about the warranty on it - I actually had not even considered that but it is definitely something I will ask him about.
Maybe I will ask him if I can use it for a day or so to see if it will work for what I want to use it for, especially since you said the zoom could use some improving - thanks again for the advice.
