Aussie Scoly

Why are Aussie scolys costing so much? Is is because they are from Austraila? I mean I have seen some beauties but I can't get over how expensive they are. And of course, the sellers always use "rare" or "hard to find" in the coral description. Not sure if that is true or not.

I think that you are right with the reason they are so expensive because they are from Austraila. I have looked at these on other sites and I have found none that are going under $100 for really good colors. There are some sites you can find them on for just green for like $50 but I think that is the cheapest you are going to find them unless you find a hobbyist that will sell you one for less than that, but I dont thin you find that either..

They're expensive because in the wild, they are not that common. They don't grow very fast unless fed.
One of the main reasons for the high price is the colors that they come in.
Just an FYI for anyone wanting one of them, they're very easy to frag, and as long as you feed them and keep your parameters good, they'll grow into a healthy new scoly in about 9 months.
I'm actually getting ready to splurge on a Bleeding Apple and I will probably frag it in half. One of the stores near me frags his quite often. Since people aren't willing to pay the full price for a full one, but will spend $80 for a quarter of one and let it grow, he can usually come out on top if he frags and sells.

Well I plan to get one at some point but first I need to get my 29g stabilized. The brown algae has balooned up!
