Of all the local auto parts store which would you say LEAST likly to give you the right part??
In my home town its AUTO ZONE(stupid life time warenty).
No matter how hard I check I always have to make 2 trips, once for the wrong part and another to switch for the right one, today they got me good, twice I removed the headers to get to the starter and still no dice. I am going to get the old one and rebuild it, again.
Most of the time I just go to NAPA where I have gotten 90% of the parts right the first time.
I could strangel the guy at " The ZONE " right now.

I am partial to Oreilly Auto Parts, but I used to work there, and if you told me what you had you got the right parts. But napa has good parts guys too.
Seriously, that is why you take the part into to the store with you.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I had a 78 Dodge D200. I went and bought new brake shoes for it. I drove home 55 miles to discover they were 1/2" too wide. Come to find out, my truck was a special order for the Forest Service (it was a yellow/white two-tone, who'd guess), made at the old Fargo truck plant in Canada. Even the air filter was different than standard. After the brake shoes, I always took the parts in with me. Time for more rum-n-diet coke.

the stores vary around here but I've noticed that it's not the store, it's the guy (or gal) behind the counter. I've never really had a problem with the zone myself, think I got the wrong part one time but like I said it wasn't the store's fault

The diameter of the part was off by a 1/4 of in inch. I fixed the old one and every thing is back to normal.
I was easy to fix, but not to replace.
Whats that old saying " A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush "

No matter if it is a part for the bike or car, I know the part and part number before I leave the house so I never get the wrong part when I leave the store. Most of the time, I'll order the part myself off the internet at on of the OEM site. When I replaced my seal beam headlights on my BMW, it was $1300 to go to BMW and pick them up. I ordered the same factory headlights for $700 through an OEM parts place.
