True "reef sharks" are live bearers. You more than likely have a bamboo shark since it hatched from an egg. Why did you have to help it? They will get out on their own, it just takes a little time. Start trying to feed it fresh raw shrimp or squid from the grocery store to get it used to eating prepared foods. After it starts eating good, you can start to give it frozen shark formula made by Ocean Nutrition as the staple with some shrimp and squid as a treat each month to break up the monotony of having it eat the same thing all the time.
What size tank is this shark in? And what type of tankmates?
6 inches is normal for newborns. 2 months is about the usual wait. It may not eat for a week or so. Use a feeding stick or tongs and bring the food up to its head. Move it a little but don't let it touch the sharks face. In time it will get the hang of it.
Expect it to grow another foot by the time it's a year old. Under 15 inches, feed until its full every other day. After it reaches 15 inches and more, you can feed it until its full every 3 days. BTW, they eat a lot.
Good luck. I hope your prepared for what you got into. They are great fish but expensive to properly maintain.
